Biography

 

Judith Le Breuilly is a Mezzo Soprano from Birmingham. She was a Young Artist at the National Opera Studio for their 2020/21 cohort and an Associate Artist the following year. Prior to this she studied at the Royal College of Music as an RCM scholar with Dinah Harris, Carolyn
Dowdle, and Simon Lepper where she gained a Master of Performance with Distinction. Her Undergraduate studies were at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with Margaret Izatt, and Julia Lynch, graduating with a first class Degree and winning both the Jean Highgate
Scholarship for singers and the Govenors’ Recital Prize for Singing.

Recent competition successes have been the 2024 winner of the Aldborough New Voices Competition and 6th prize at the 2025 Veronica Dunne international singing competition in Dublin. She was also a finalist in the 2020 Kathleen Ferrier Awards.

In recent years, Judith has worked with companies such as Welsh National Opera, Garsington Opera, English Touring Opera, and Wexford Festival. Roles have included Justice’s Lady/ Second Niece in Stanford’s The Critic (WFO), Cassie in The Vanishing Forest for ETO Learning and Participation, Mezzo (cover) in What Dreams may Come a devised piece also for ETO, Octavian in scenes from Der Rosenkavalier for the Lewis Chamber Music Festival, Kitchen Boy (cover) in Dvorak’s Rusalka, and Mary (Cover) for Welsh National Opera in Al Wasl written for the 2020 Dubai expo.

Other operatic roles include touring the country with Tarantara productions in ‘A Gala Celebration of Gilbert and Sullivan’, Zweite DameDie Zauberflöte (Hurn Court Opera), LiaL’Enfant Prodigue, ErnestoIl Mondo Della Luna, The Grand Duchess (Cover) A Dinner
Engagement (RCMIOS), various roles in Scoring a Century, Mother Goose (Cover) A Rake’s Progress (British Youth Opera). Judith has also sung the roles of Donna ElviraDon Giovanni, DorabellaCosì fan tutte, RosinaIl Barbiere di Siviglia, HänselHänsel und Gretel, HermiaA Midsummer night’s dream, and DinahTrouble in Tahiti in scenes.

Judith also enjoys performing as a concert and oratorio soloist. Her recent work includes; Verdi’s Requiem with Scunthorpe and District Choral Society and Hutton and Shenfield Choral Society, Handel’s Messiah at Worcester Cathedral with the Worcester Festival Choral Society and the Bournemouth Bach Choir, Mahler’s Second Symphony with Leamington Sinfonia, and Handel’s Lucrezia with Volante Strings. Other performances have been with Redditch Choral Society, Stowemarket Chorale, Buckingham Choral Society, The Waverley Singers, Reigate and Redhill Choral Society, and she is a regular soloist with The Midland Concert Orchestra.

She is a passionate recitalist with her duo partner Elizabeth Haughan, most recently singing Faure’s Chanson D’Eve as part of his Centenary at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
