Biography
Julian Debreuil has garnered praise from critics in recent years for his ‘rich and powerful’ voice. Having previously sung bass roles, Julian moved up to bass-baritone in 2022 and went on to win First Prize at the Grand Virtuoso Competition in Bonn, as well as reaching the finals of the Manhattan and the Nomea International Music Competitions.
Concert work includes Beethoven Ninth Symphony, London Mozart Players at St John’s Smith Square; Mozart Mass in C Minor, LSO St Luke’s; Handel The Messiah, Ampleforth Abbey. Verdi Messa da Requiem, Philharmonia Orchestra; Elgar The Apostles, BBC Concert Orchestra; Elgar The Dream of Gerontius, Hamburg Symphony Orchestra; Beethoven Missa Solemnis, Southbank Sinfonia; J. S. Bach Johannes-Passion, London Handel Players.
Recent and future opera roles include the title role Duke Bluebeard’s Castle at the Arcola Theatre; Saul Hodgkins Ghost Train at the St Magnus International Festival & Beaumaris Festival; Nettuno Idomeneo for Buxton Festival Opera; Colline La Boheme and Don Basilio Il Barbiere di Siviglia for the Ravenna Opera Festival. Pizarro Fidelio for Longborough Festival Opera; Nettuno Idomeneo for Buxton Opera Festival; Cover title role Rigoletto for Diva Opera in South Africa, France, Scotland, England and the Channel Islands.
Julian holds degrees in Music, Behavioural Economics, Geopolitics and Business Administration. Outside of his performing commitments Julian works as an Independent Geopolitical Consultant and is Director of the London Singers Seminars, which curates educational events and resources for singers. During the period 2014-2019 Julian held the position of Director at Assiduity Ltd., a London-based real estate company.
